BIO
The 25 year old started sailing at the age of five with his grandfather on a wooden sailboat in Ancón, a bay north of Lima, Peru’s capital. He is Peru's first male athlete in Peru's history to qualify for the Olympic Games in the sport of sailing (Rio 2016). He joined his club’s Optimist team in 2003, achieving several podium finishes in his 3 Worlds, 5 South Americans, 4 North Americans, and a European Championship. After graduating university in the USA and being named College Sailor of the Year in 2018, he started his full-time campaign for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics games; to which he qualified Peru for in Aarhus, Denmark that same year. He is also the only Peruvian sailor to have won the Laser Standard South American Championship (2019), a trophy that counts with important names such as Robert Scheidt, Diego Romero, and many others. He has six sailing South American Championships under his belt and is aspiring to become a Laser World Champion. During his 7 years on the Laser circuit, he has two nominations for Peru’s Olympic Team (2016, 2020) and Panamerican Team (2015, 2019), Has won a Gold and Silver medal at the Bolivarian Games (2017, 2013), has sailed in 8 medal races, and has a Gold medal on the last World Cup Sailing series event in Miami 2020.
